'Green Cheetah' Big Bambu Monumental Floor Lamp — Model No. 041

Introducing the Wild Kingdom Collection, a scene-stealing set of maximalist art lamps inspired by the majesty of nature.

The monumental Big Bambu floor lamp series is a first in several respects: It’s the first series we’ve made using contemporary (i.e. non-vintage) traditional Japanese parasols; the first we’ve made at such an outsized scale (though it does have a forbearer); and the first that required a blowtorch. 

The “Green Cheetah” Big Bambu Lamp consists of a triple-tiered, two-tone verdigris-tinted cast-plaster base, a lacquered 1.5” bamboo column with pyrographed cheetah spots, and a cloth-like pale green rice-paper shade, with seaweed-green lambskin and brown leather accents, made from a contemporary Japanese parasol. The shade, which has been waterproofed with tung oil in the traditional manner, is reassuringly durable and difficult to tear.

Unlacquered brass hardware, a terra-cotta cloth-covered cord, and a vintage-style plug complete the modernist vibe. The column is detachable from the base for easy shipping via UPS in three separate boxes.
