Jumbo Horst Tripod Floor Lamp with Vintage Japanese Parasol Shade — Model No. 036
Jumbo Horst Tripod Floor Lamp with Vintage Japanese Parasol Shade — Model No. 036
The Horst Collection is inspired by the life and times of pioneering early 20th century lensman Horst P. Horst, who is credited with introducing color photography to a mass audience through his genre-defining fashion shoots for Vogue.
Standing just under six-and-a-half feet tall when its legs are fully extended, Model No. 036 is the largest Horst tripod lamp we've made to date. Its body consists of an oversized, upcycled vintage brass German camera tripod from the 1940s, which we have converted into a 60-watt floor lamp, with a khaki-brown fabric-covered cord, vintage-style plug, and brass fittings.
But the star of the show is its shade: In a former life, it was an extra-large antique Japaneses rice-paper parasol (circa 1960), in the perfect shade of red, with fine bamboo ribbing and a contrasting band at the bottom. Fully restored and converted into a shade, the addition of a vintage zebra hide zukami swatch and brown leather atama himo fastener at the crown brings the whole thing together.
Guaranteed to be the focal point of any living room or lobby.
Made in New York by hand in a single, signed edition by Christopher Tennant.

* As all of our parasols are individually sourced, often one-of-a-kind antiques, the resulting shades may have small imperfections and repairs, reflecting their historic character.
